Professional experience

Luigi Calini is a counsel at LMS, where he focuses on EU, Italian and global competition law and regulatory matters. He has significant experience on mergers, horizontal and vertical agreements, investigations related to cartels and abuses of dominance, regulatory issues, state aid and unfair commercial practices.

Luigi advises leading private equity funds and major Italian and international companies in merger proceedings, including phase-II investigations, and cartel investigations before the European Commission, the Italian Competition Authority, as well as other national competition authorities, and in the context of litigation proceedings before Italian and EU courts.

He advises regularly corporate clients on EU regulatory compliance in a variety of matters. Luigi’s experience covers various sectors including transport, energy, manufacturing, IT and new economy markets, consumer goods and retailing.

Prior to joining LMS, Luigi worked as an associate in international law firms in Rome and Brussels where his practice focused on Italian and EU competition law as well as on EU regulations and internal market. He obtained an LL.M. in European law at the College of Europe in Bruges, with a major in EU competition law, and was also a stagiaire at the Directorate General for Competition of the European Commission, in Unit C/5, Mergers – Information, Communication and Media.
